  2. I have referred a number of doubters to your sight when talking about health issues and fracking. Powerful stuff. Keep up the good work. You might want to post the total number of articles (families affected) with each new update.

  3. Dear Green Drinks, Renewable Energy and Environmental Activists:

In order to stop fracking, we need to have an alternative. I have started a petition on the White House “We, the people” Website ordering the US Department of Energy to conduct a study on transitioning to renewable energy by 2030 without fossil fuel or nuclear power.
I wanted to let you know about a new petition I created on We the People, a new feature on WhiteHouse.gov, and ask for your support. Will you add your name to mine? If this petition gets 100,000 signatures by March 24, 2013, the White House will review it and respond!

We the People, allows anyone to create and sign petitions asking the Obama Administration to take action on a range of issues. If a petition gets enough support, the Obama Administration will issue an official response.

You can view and sign the petition here:

Here’s some more information about this petition:

Conduct a study on converting the US to renewable energy by 2030 without fossil fuel or nuclear power. Dr. Jacobson at Stanford University and Dr. Delucchi at the University of California at Davis, in their Nov. 2009 Scientific American article and in their March 2011 articles in Energy Policy journal have outline a plan for the world to convert to renewable energy without fossil fuel or the use of nuclear power, using existing technology. Germany has adopted a similar plan and will obtain 80% of their energy from renewable sources and shut down all of their nuclear power plants by 2022. The German government, the Chancellor and the Bundestag (parliament) from Conservative to Green, left to right are united behind this plan. Why can’t we do that in the United States? How did the politicians in Germany overcome the lobbying and campaign money from the energy and the electric utilities? I visited Germany last summer and the German people are not “starving or freezing in the dark.” Their economy is booming and the amount of energy use is declining. If the Germans can do it, we can do it. Nuclear power and the further use of fossil fuel is too dangerous, too expensive and totally unnecessary for our energy needs.

Amory Lovins of the Rocky Mountain Institute has conducted similar research studies and has reached a similar conclusion.

Just copy and past the link above or click on it and sign the petition. http://wh.gov/vmC3

We have 14 days, up until March 22, 2013, to gather 100,000 signatures.

Please pass this on to make it go viral on the Web. After all President Obama said in his State of the Union Speech that we must take action to stop global warming. Well here is our chance to hold his feet to the fire and really do something to make him and the Congress act and not be beholden to the fossil fuel, nuclear energy and centralized electric power utilities.

    Thanks,

  5. I can’t find your facebook page. Let’s get this passed on – the List of Harmed – it will end up being quite a list.

  6. I don’t know if you have included this information on the list. it is fairly old and I just couldn’t face going thru the whole List to see if these people were on it.
    http://www.hcn.org/issues/343/16931
High Country News has had more recent articles on fracking and other industry activities.
I am a resident of Central NY and we are trying to get a ban in our little community and happily use your list when trying to inform our Town Board. So far, lots of work, no ban. But we haven’t given up yet.

Another journal with fracking articles and information can be found at http://www.acresusa.com. This is an eco-logical farming magazine. Perhaps if we come at this from all different angles we will have a better chance.

Thank you for all this work!

  7. God bless you, you good, inspiring people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in your fight against corporate welfare shrills, and the thieves & looters in suits from the fracking corporations. Here in Britain, we are starting to fight the same battles against fracking. You inspire us! Your experience is critical in facing down the Right’s lies and deceptions of UK & Australian drilling corporations such as Cuadrilla, Vitol and Dart Energy. All are deeply embedded in the Conservative-led British government; for example, our Finance Minister George Osborne is married to the daughter of “Lord” David Howell, a salaried gas-and fracking-lobbyist, still close to government 30 years ago after serving as energy minister of Premier Margaret Thatcher.

This YouTube clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGjlJByyQsE&feature=youtu.be shows your Pennsylvania List of the Harmed being read out at the site of the UK’s first, and longest – at two weeks – protest against the first major fracking attempt in England. 18 months after preliminary drilling in the NW of Englandwas halted due to failed wells and earth tremors, the small town of Balcombe in the county of Sussex, close to the south coast of England, is now the centre of a mass demonstration & opposition to exploratory fracking by Cuadrilla, a fracking firm whose chairman Lord Edmund Browne was brought in by the Conservatives in May 2010 to oversee the workings of every department in the UK’s government. Our head of government, Prime Minister David Cameron believes that fracking is safe. His corporatist lackeys in the British media – Rupert Murdoch, the tax-exile Barclay twins who own the Daily Telegraph, all repeat the same lies. Your list and your inspiring resistance and upholding of truth are in our hearts. May God be with us on either side of the Atlantic, and may truth prevail. Alban Thurston

  8. I have decided to make my nieces name public. She fell into a coma and was hospitalized at UPMC for 3 weeks in 2010, and suffered lung, heart, nervous system and liver damage, after drinking from a water well and breathing fumes when ATLAS drilled a well 215 feet uphill from her drinking water well. She was 32. Her blood/barium concentration was found to be 110 ug/L; 11 times industry worker permissible level. She is taking 25 different pills a day and doctors say she’ll require a liver transplant in the future. Her name is Tara Brozik Keith. I have soil and water samples from the site, showing elevated levels of metals and chemicals related to gas drilling. Help is not forthcoming. The PA DEP and the EPA treated me as a nuisance when I asked for help…

  9. http://www.wfaa.com/story/news/local/tarrant-county/2014/08/26/fish-kill-pappy-elkins-lake-dalworthington-gardens/14662529/ One of our local parks/nature preserves has been destroyed by the fracking industry. It is still trying to be determined exactly what went so wrong. XTO removed most of the water for drilling. There was either a spill/leak or the water was simply to low to support life. Out of the 1,000s of waterfowl(ducks, geese, cranes, king fishers, gulls) that used to call this little lake home, only a handful remain. Now all the fish are dying…..by the 1,000s( carp, catfish, brim, white bass, mussels). Buzzards are gathering on the bank. This site is dangerously close (3oo feet or less) to a school and 2 large apartment complexes, as well as homes. Please add this devastation to the “List of Harmed”…..Thanks.

  10. #1693 is us. Update. Crane tipped over missing house. January 2014 PHMSA inspectors made enbridge replace 477′ feet of pipe in January of 2014. (wwmt news 3) (battle Creek enquirer) Due to crane dropping pipe. ( Inside climate news )reports 2 yrs after construction starts land still not fixed. Property damage

  11. I’ve worked in the gas industry for 7 months, in WV and OH. While working in Ohio on a frac pad I was exposed to flow back/treated water. The tanks I was monitoring was used to store the treated water until the tanks were full enough to send it down hole. These tanks weren’t able to be measured without dropping along stick into the top of the tank to strap the level. The stick would then be pulled out. I was exposed to this water on my hands. I wore gloves, but the water would evidentially penetrate the gloves getting onto my hands. My left hand began to itch and as time has went on I have hundreds of little blisters underneath the skin. It also moved onto both my feet. I didn’t realize at the time about the seriousness of this exposure. I mentioned this to my foreman and he didn’t seem concerned. I’ve went to the doctor multiple times being treated for fungus, steroids and antibiotics. None of the medication has eliminated the itchiness, the cracking of my skin causing pain. My doctor doesn’t know what is wrong, but wants me to go to a specialist. This has made my life hell and I don’t know where to turn

    • I feel bad for you but in addition to seeing an environmental specialist perhaps you should join the ranks of the landowners unjustly bullied by Big Oil & Gas and protest fracking and pipeline construction.

  12. Conventional wells permitted by PA DEP over home owner objection. Closest well drilled in 2012 was 260′ from our water well and 500′ from an abandoned orphan well on our property. Three wells drilled, two were fracked around Thanksgiving 2013. Strongly suspect Marcellus Flowback was used for the frack which entered the abandoned well and blew out in the water table, and our water well. Our case was one of “the 243” first released in 2014. We received bottled water, but no water buffalo. We got a “determination” that our well was contaminated. Our case has not been settled. We have apparently been “written off” due to the contaminator’s attorney being an “ex-DEP’ attorney. We were forced to install nearly 850 feet of line to connect to city water at considerable expense to us, plus ruined appliances, health problems due to bathing in the bad water. payments on a home equity loan to pay for the water replacement. We are asking for restitution, asking that the abandoned well be plugged, and possibly our old water well may also have to be plugged if the methane continues to rise.
